2004 BC Summer Games |

In July 2004, Visions By Design,
led a team of 9 videographers, to film & produce
a video in recognition of the opening & closing
ceremony volunteers. The video was screened at the Summer
Games volunteer appreciation party held on the last
day of the games.
The videography team included Cindy Harris, Dave Skidmore,
Emil Fernandes, & Tammy Parker. Also on the team
were Art Institute of Vancouver Instructors, Rock Whitney
& Glen Bietel, along with 5 film class students.

Big Brothers Big Sisters |
 |
This is a clip from a video that we made for a
Big Brothers Big Sisters fundraising event. The
goal of this video was to have an emotional impact
on the viewer, by giving real stories told by real
people (rather than dry facts and stats, educating
the viewer about the organization).

Abbotsford
"in motion" |

This promotional video was made for Abbotsford’s
“in motion” campaign, designed to promote
& encourage physical activity levels in citizens
across the community.
The story in this video is told by using interview footage
as the underlying bed to the video, & then cutting
lots of activity shots over the interview footage. You
always see who it is talking, so you can put a face
with the voices telling the story. It’s important
that we hear what they’re saying, & can identify
with who is talking, but since noone wants to see a
‘talking head’ throughout a whole video,
it’s also important to cut to action shots that
bring energy, excitement, & entertainment value
to the story.

The video
to the left is a short version of this project,
just highlighting the rafting activity; while the
video to the right is the full promo version with
narration, showing all that’s on offer at
Chilliwack River Rafting. |
Long Version (promotional) |
We did lots of
filming throughout the summer to gather the footage
for this promotional video, which is mailed out
to corporate client inquires. Chilliwack River Rafting
also use this video in their trade show booths to
get attention. Since most people think of a rafting
trip as only that, the video was also designed to
highlight all the other activities on offer at this
facility, & have potential clients realize that
there’s a whole weekend of camping, rafting,
fun & excitement available on these trips.
